AQIPP 2019
Judy Robinson Whitty, AQIPP Convenor
‘Metamorphosis’ was the theme for the AQIPP Exhibition, opened by Councillor Sharon Ellis, Mayor of Whitehorse, on 14 November 2019. The exhibition was hosted by the City of Whitehorse and was held within the Artspace at the Box Hill Town Hall.
The opening drew more than one hundred visitors, who were treated to light refreshments and a first look at the exhibition. More than 1,500 visitors attended the Exhibition over the course of five weeks.
With fifty-two entries, visitors enjoyed a diverse and exciting selection of work.
The exhibition was arranged over several rooms with excellent lighting and comfortable surroundings. All quilts incorporated at least two layers bound together by hand or machine stitching, as stipulated by the AQIPP guidelines.
Prize winners were chosen by Jenny Bacon and Jan Frazer.
Demonstrations were held on Saturdays and were well attended. Many visitors were lucky enough to take home their very own textile art postcard.
Thank you to the sponsors whose support make this event possible. The Australian Quilters Association Inc, City of Whitehorse, Brother Australia, Whitehorse Artspace, GJ’s Discount Fabrics, Clair’s Fabrics, Aurifil Threads, Rhino Glass Beads, Zart Art Supplies and Victorian Textiles. Whitehorse was very pleased with the attendance numbers and hope to have AQIPP back for another exhibition in 2021. A special thank you is also extended to the AQIPP – 2019 Committee, whose dedication, hard work, good humour and attention to detail ensured that AQIPP 2019 was a resounding success.
